We publish the same metric set every week so you can compare chains on equal footing instead of reading seven separate dashboards. This edition covers the seven days ending Sunday 11 October 2026.
Every figure below is derived from one shared dataset pulled from DefiLlama's public API, so the numbers in this report cannot disagree with the news review or the intelligence briefing published the same week. Stock metrics (TVL, stablecoin supply) are Sunday snapshots; flow metrics (DEX volume, fees) are weekly totals.
Quick answer
Which chain earned the most network fees during the week of Oct 5 - Oct 11, 2026? Solana, for the tenth consecutive week, but for the first time since 6 September it earned less than $100m: $99.6m, down 10.8% from $111.7m, on TVL that fell 4.8% to $6.21bn. The week itself was the sharpest risk-off move in our sample. Total TVL fell 3.3% to $76.92B — the largest weekly decline in the series — DEX volume dropped 16.8% to $36.29B, network fees fell 12.3% to $213.7M, and blended turnover slid to 0.47x, its weakest reading since the week ending 16 August. Only TRON grew TVL. The stablecoin float slipped 0.2% to $284.34B, giving back part of last week's rebound.
1 Total Value Locked by chain
| Chain | TVL | Share | W/W | 4-wk avg | vs 4-wk |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ethereum | $51.4B | 66.8% | -3.5% | $52.4B | -1.9% |
| TRON | $5.7B | 7.4% | +0.7% | $5.6B | +2.0% |
| BNB Chain | $5.6B | 7.3% | -4.3% | $5.8B | -4.5% |
| Solana | $6.2B | 8.1% | -4.8% | $6.3B | -1.5% |
| Base | $6.2B | 8.1% | -2.5% | $6.0B | +2.8% |
| Arbitrum | $1.4B | 1.8% | -2.8% | $1.4B | -3.7% |
| Optimism | $0.5B | 0.6% | -8.2% | $0.5B | -4.8% |
The first week of the sample in which the breadth was almost entirely negative: six chains fell and one — TRON — rose. Ethereum gave back 3.5% to $51.39bn, a loss of about $1.89bn, the largest absolute move of either direction this week. Solana fell 4.8%, BNB Chain 4.3% and Arbitrum 2.8%; Base eased 2.5%. Optimism posted the steepest percentage decline at 8.2%, though on the sample's smallest base — about $40m in absolute terms.
TRON is the only chain that added value this week and one of only two sitting above their own four-week average (+2.0%), the other being Base at +2.8% on a TVL that still fell 2.5%. That is a thin distinction in a week this red, but it is the second consecutive week TRON has been a relative outperformer after leading the September float drain and then reversing it.
2 TVL trend, last six weeks
| Chain | 2026-09-06 | 2026-09-13 | 2026-09-20 | 2026-09-27 | 2026-10-04 | 2026-10-11 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ethereum | $49.3B | $50.1B | $52.6B | $53.5B | $53.3B | $51.4B |
| TRON | $5.4B | $5.5B | $5.6B | $5.7B | $5.7B | $5.7B |
| BNB Chain | $5.8B | $6.0B | $5.7B | $5.8B | $5.8B | $5.6B |
| Solana | $5.9B | $5.9B | $6.2B | $6.6B | $6.5B | $6.2B |
| Base | $5.7B | $5.6B | $5.9B | $6.3B | $6.4B | $6.2B |
| Arbitrum | $1.4B | $1.4B | $1.4B | $1.4B | $1.4B | $1.4B |
| Optimism | $0.4B | $0.4B | $0.5B | $0.5B | $0.5B | $0.5B |
The trend table shows the shape this report has been describing for a month — a stair-step of five growth weeks — and then the break. Ethereum's row climbs from $49.3B in early September to $53.5B, holds near it for a week, and drops to $51.4B at the end. Every other chain's row is flat-to-down at the right edge. The question the trend poses is whether this is a one-week deleveraging shock or the start of a lower plateau; a single week cannot distinguish them, but the composition — deposits, volume and fees falling together — is the signature of a shock rather than a slow drift.
3 DEX spot volume and turnover
| Chain | DEX vol | Share | W/W | Turnover | Rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ethereum | $10.0B | 27.5% | +5.6% | 0.19 | 2 |
| TRON | $0.4B | 1.0% | +22.6% | 0.07 | 6 |
| BNB Chain | $4.9B | 13.6% | -33.3% | 0.89 | 4 |
| Solana | $12.9B | 35.5% | -20.9% | 2.07 | 1 |
| Base | $7.0B | 19.2% | -16.0% | 1.12 | 3 |
| Arbitrum | $1.0B | 2.6% | -10.3% | 0.70 | 5 |
| Optimism | $0.2B | 0.5% | -77.1% | 0.42 | 7 |
Volume fell almost everywhere, and hard. Optimism dropped 77.1% to $0.19bn, BNB Chain 33.3% to $4.94bn and Solana 20.9% to $12.88bn; Base fell 16.0% and Arbitrum 10.3%. Only two chains grew, and both for reasons worth separating: TRON rose 22.6% to $0.38bn on a base small enough that the move is noise, while Ethereum rose 5.6% to $9.97bn — the only large venue to trade more in a week when price fell. The aggregate fell 16.8% to $36.29bn, its sharpest decline in the sample.
Solana remains the largest single venue at $12.88bn, but its lead over Ethereum narrowed to about 1.3 times from roughly 1.7 times a week earlier. Its turnover held at 2.07x — still more than ten times Ethereum's 0.19x — even as the whole table's turnover ratios fell.
4 DEX volume trend, last six weeks
| Chain | 2026-09-06 | 2026-09-13 | 2026-09-20 | 2026-09-27 | 2026-10-04 | 2026-10-11 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ethereum | $8.9B | $8.6B | $10.4B | $10.5B | $9.4B | $10.0B |
| TRON | $0.3B | $0.3B | $0.3B | $0.3B | $0.3B | $0.4B |
| BNB Chain | $9.2B | $10.0B | $7.8B | $6.5B | $7.4B | $4.9B |
| Solana | $16.1B | $18.5B | $19.8B | $18.3B | $16.3B | $12.9B |
| Base | $5.8B | $6.6B | $6.2B | $6.5B | $8.3B | $7.0B |
| Arbitrum | $1.3B | $1.1B | $1.5B | $1.6B | $1.1B | $1.0B |
| Optimism | $0.2B | $0.2B | $0.2B | $0.2B | $0.8B | $0.2B |
The volume row breaks a two-week flat patch in the clearest way yet: two readings near $44B, then $36.3B. Ethereum is the only chain whose right-edge value is higher than its left-edge value, and it is the only row that does not slope down. Volume at the venues fell faster than TVL, which is why turnover fell with it — the money that stayed traded less.
5 Stablecoin supply by chain
| Chain | Stablecoins | Share | W/W | Rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ethereum | $146.2B | 51.4% | -0.5% | 1 |
| TRON | $94.9B | 33.4% | +0.7% | 2 |
| BNB Chain | $16.9B | 5.9% | -0.2% | 3 |
| Solana | $16.3B | 5.7% | -2.9% | 4 |
| Base | $5.2B | 1.8% | +1.2% | 5 |
| Arbitrum | $4.1B | 1.4% | +0.0% | 6 |
| Optimism | $0.6B | 0.2% | +10.5% | 7 |
Float gave back part of last week's rebound. The aggregate eased 0.2% to $284.34B, with Solana the largest decliner at -2.9% ($16.33bn) and Ethereum off 0.5% to $146.22bn. TRON, the chain that led the September drain and its reversal, grew again — +0.7% to $94.93bn. Base added 1.2% and Optimism 10.5% on a $0.63bn base, while BNB Chain eased 0.2%. Arbitrum was flat.
The float is the one line that did not crack this week. A 0.2% drift against a 3.3% TVL decline means the dollar layer held while the risk layer repriced — the same asymmetry the series has shown all quarter, and a reminder that stablecoin supply responds to issuance and settlement demand, not to price direction.
6 Stablecoin concentration
| Rank | Chain | Stablecoins | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ethereum | $146.2B | 51.4% |
| 2 | TRON | $94.9B | 33.4% |
| 3 | BNB Chain | $16.9B | 5.9% |
| 4 | Solana | $16.3B | 5.7% |
| 5 | Base | $5.2B | 1.8% |
| 6 | Arbitrum | $4.1B | 1.4% |
| 7 | Optimism | $0.6B | 0.2% |
Ethereum and TRON together hold 84.8% of the float in our sample. The pair moved in opposite directions this week — Ethereum down, TRON up — which is the same rotation that ran through the whole third quarter, now visible inside a single week.
7 Network fees
| Chain | Fees | W/W | Share | Fees / TVL |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ethereum | $79.2M | -5.6% | 37.1% | 0.154 |
| TRON | $1.8M | +0.0% | 0.8% | 0.032 |
| BNB Chain | $16.6M | -34.4% | 7.8% | 0.297 |
| Solana | $99.6M | -10.8% | 46.6% | 1.604 |
| Base | $12.4M | -3.9% | 5.8% | 0.200 |
| Arbitrum | $2.1M | -63.8% | 1.0% | 0.153 |
| Optimism | $2.0M | -16.7% | 0.9% | 0.444 |
Fees fell to $213.7M, down 12.3% — the largest weekly decline in the sample and the first reading below $220m since the week ending 20 September. Solana led at $99.6m, down 10.8% and below $100m for the first time since the week ending 6 September, but still 46.6% of the entire sample's fee revenue. Ethereum earned $79.2m (-5.6%). The sharpest drops were on the chains that had the sharpest volume declines: BNB Chain -34.4% to $16.6m and Arbitrum -63.8% to $2.1m. TRON was flat at $1.8m.
The structural gap narrowed slightly without changing shape: Solana still earns about $16.0 of fees per $1,000 of TVL against Ethereum's $1.54 — a little over ten times, down from roughly eleven. Fee intensity fell almost everywhere, which is the arithmetic of a week in which trading activity dropped faster than balances.
8 Turnover and capital efficiency
| Chain | Turnover (vol / TVL) | W/W | Weekly fees / TVL |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solana | 2.07x | -16.9% | 1.604% |
| Base | 1.12x | -13.9% | 0.200% |
| BNB Chain | 0.89x | -30.3% | 0.297% |
| Arbitrum | 0.70x | -7.7% | 0.153% |
| Optimism | 0.42x | -75.1% | 0.444% |
| Ethereum | 0.19x | +9.5% | 0.154% |
| TRON | 0.07x | +21.7% | 0.032% |
Blended turnover slid to 0.47x, down 14.0% from 0.55x — its weakest reading since the week ending 16 August and the third consecutive decline. With volume falling much faster than TVL, the ratio fell mechanically, but the level is now back near the range the sample showed before the September rise began.
The dispersion across chains remains enormous, and it narrowed at the top: Solana turns its TVL over 2.07 times a week against Ethereum's 0.19. Solana's ratio fell 16.9% and BNB Chain's 30.3%, while Ethereum's and TRON's rose — the only two chains whose volume grew.
9 Composite scorecard
| Chain | TVL | DEX | Stables | Fees | Turnover | Avg rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solana | 2 | 1 | 4 | 1 | 1 | 1.8 |
| Ethereum | 1 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 6 | 2.4 |
| Base | 3 | 3 | 5 | 4 | 2 | 3.4 |
| BNB Chain | 5 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3.6 |
| TRON | 4 | 6 | 2 | 7 | 7 | 5.2 |
| Arbitrum | 6 | 5 | 6 | 5 | 4 | 5.2 |
| Optimism | 7 | 7 | 7 | 6 | 5 | 6.4 |
Solana tops the composite for the first time in the sample, on the strength of its volume, fee and turnover ranks even after a down week. Ethereum is second on deposits and fees; Base third. The bottom of the table is where the week's damage concentrates: TRON and Arbitrum tie on average rank, and Optimism sits last — the only chain in the bottom row of every fee, volume and TVL column.
10 Anomaly screen
| Chain | Metric | Current | 4-wk avg | z-score | Flag |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TRON | DEX volume | 0.38 | 0.30 | 4.54 | watch |
| Solana | DEX volume | 12.88 | 18.22 | -3.65 | watch |
| Ethereum | Stablecoins | 146.22 | 147.42 | -3.05 | watch |
| BNB Chain | TVL | 5.58 | 5.84 | -2.76 | watch |
| Solana | Fees | 99.60 | 109.60 | -2.53 | watch |
| Optimism | Stablecoins | 0.63 | 0.54 | 2.43 | watch |
| Arbitrum | TVL | 1.37 | 1.42 | -2.37 | watch |
| Base | Stablecoins | 5.22 | 5.05 | 2.17 | watch |
| BNB Chain | DEX volume | 4.94 | 7.93 | -2.02 | watch |
| BNB Chain | Fees | 16.60 | 24.38 | -1.83 | elevated |
| TRON | Stablecoins | 94.93 | 93.82 | 1.59 | elevated |
| TRON | TVL | 5.71 | 5.60 | 1.43 | elevated |
The screen flags nine chain-metric pairs above two standard deviations, and for once the flags are not baseline artefacts — they are the week's moves showing up as outliers. TRON's DEX volume (+4.54) and Optimism's stablecoin line (+2.43) are small-base effects. The informative ones are the negatives: Solana's DEX volume (-3.65), Ethereum's stablecoin supply (-3.05), BNB Chain's TVL (-2.76), Solana's fees (-2.53) and Arbitrum's TVL (-2.37). A cluster of negative outliers this broad is a market-level move, not a chain-level one.
11 Comparison with the trailing four weeks
| Metric | Current | 4-wk avg | Delta | Delta % |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TVL ($B) | 76.92 | 78.05 | -1.13 | -1.4% |
| DEX volume ($B) | 36.29 | 44.79 | -8.50 | -19.0% |
| Stablecoins ($B) | 284.34 | 284.15 | 0.19 | +0.1% |
| Fees ($M) | 213.70 | 236.70 | -23.00 | -9.7% |
TVL growth leaders this week: TRON (+0.7%). Weakest TVL change: Optimism (-8.2%), Solana (-4.8%).
Measured against the trailing four weeks rather than last week, the picture is sharper: DEX volume is 19.0% below its four-week average and fees 9.7% below, while stablecoin float is fractionally above its average (+0.1%). That split — trading and fees well below trend, dollar float on trend — is the cleanest summary of the week available.
12 Concentration: how much sits in the top three
| Metric | Top three chains | Combined share | Largest | Largest w/w |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TVL | Ethereum, Solana, Base | 83.0% | $51.4B | -3.5% |
| DEX volume | Solana, Ethereum, Base | 82.2% | $12.9B | -20.9% |
| Stablecoin supply | Ethereum, TRON, BNB Chain | 90.8% | $146.2B | -0.5% |
| Network fees | Solana, Ethereum, BNB Chain | 91.4% | $99.6M | -10.8% |
Fee revenue and stablecoin float remain the most concentrated lines, and this week both tightened: the top three chains account for 91.4% of fees and 90.8% of float. DEX volume is the least concentrated at 82.2%, but its top three also sit on two chains that fell hard — Solana -20.9% and Base -16.0% — against Ethereum's gain.
13 Deep dive: the three chains that moved the week
| Chain | TVL | Role | Strength | Watch item |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TRON | $5.7B | Settlement float | The only chain to grow TVL (+0.7%) and one of only two above their four-week average (+2.0%) | Whether the float gain holds if the risk-off week extends |
| Ethereum | $51.4B | Settlement and collateral | The only large venue to grow DEX volume (+5.6%) while TVL fell 3.5% | Whether the volume gain is deleveraging churn or a lasting shift in share |
| BNB Chain | $5.6B | High-throughput trading | Steepest falls in the sample: DEX volume -33.3%, fees -34.4% | Whether the volume unwinds further or mean-reverts after one week |
Reading the sample through these three: TRON is the defensive hold — the chain that did not sell off, on a float base that grew while the risk layer repriced. Ethereum is the paradox — deposits fell but trading rose, which is what forced selling inside a deep market looks like. BNB Chain is the clearest expression of the week's risk-off: both its volume and its fees fell by about a third, the largest declines of any chain, and both were mean-reverting from an elevated base it had built in late September.
14 Limitations of this report
- TVL can double-count recursive strategies, so treat levels as approximate and compare week-over-week changes rather than absolute values.
- DEX volume data comes from venue-reported series; wash trading is filtered inconsistently across chains.
- Stablecoin supply counts tokens resident on chain, which is not the same as economic ownership by users there.
- Network fee figures exclude application-level revenue, so chains hosting large application take-rates may be understated.
- A single base chain can move the ecosystem aggregate; always read the per-chain rows alongside the totals.

16 What this means
The honest summary is that the series' first genuine risk-off week arrived without any on-chain failure behind it. The aggregate fell 3.3% to $76.92B, volume 16.8% and fees 12.3%, and turnover dropped to a two-month low — but the movement originated off-chain, in a price decline and a leverage flush that pulled capital out of every venue at once. On-chain data this week is a mirror of a market event, not the source of one.
The line that did not break is the dollar layer. Stablecoin float eased only 0.2% against a 3.3% TVL decline, and TRON — the chain most associated with dollar settlement — grew. Read together with the fee collapse, the week says trading stopped, not that capital left; the float stayed parked while the risk layer repriced downward. That is the reverse of the September pattern, when float drained while TVL held.
For the next week the question is whether this is a one-off shock or a change of regime. Two things would settle it: volume recovering toward the $44B four-week average, or turnover holding near 0.47x for a second week. The former would mark the week as a flush; the latter would mark it as the start of a quieter, lower-activity market — and the yield column's lending rates are the downstream readout either way.
Key Takeaways
- Total TVL fell 3.3% to $76.92B — the largest weekly decline in the sample — with only TRON (+0.7%) growing.
- DEX volume dropped 16.8% to $36.29B and network fees 12.3% to $213.7M, both the sharpest declines in the series.
- Blended turnover slid to 0.47x (-14.0%), the weakest reading since the week ending 16 August.
- Solana led fees for the tenth consecutive week at $99.6m (-10.8%) — its first sub-$100m reading since 6 September — still 46.6% of the sample's total.
- Ethereum was the only large venue to grow DEX volume (+5.6%) while its TVL fell 3.5%; BNB Chain posted the steepest falls (volume -33.3%, fees -34.4%).
- Stablecoin float eased only 0.2% to $284.34B, holding far better than the risk layer; Solana -2.9%, TRON +0.7%.
17 The week in brief
This was the sharpest risk-off week in the series. Nothing drifted: every headline line fell at once, and each fell harder than in any prior week of the sample. Total TVL dropped 3.3% to $76.92B, its largest weekly decline by a wide margin. DEX volume fell 16.8% to $36.29B. Network fees slid 12.3% to $213.7M. The blended turnover ratio — weekly volume divided by TVL — came in at 0.47x, the weakest reading since the week ending 16 August.
The breadth was one-sided. Only TRON grew, adding 0.7% to a $5.67bn base; the other six chains all declined, by between 2.5% and 8.2%. Ethereum lost the most in absolute terms, about $1.89bn, and still holds two-thirds of the sample's value locked. The stablecoin float, which rebounded last week, gave most of that back: the aggregate eased 0.2% to $284.34B, with Solana the largest decliner at -2.9%.
The move lines up with an off-chain deleveraging rather than with any single on-chain failure. In the same seven days, bitcoin slid from near $86,600 to an intraday low near $80,350 before stabilising around $82,500, while more than $2.4bn of leveraged positions were liquidated — most of them longs — and US spot bitcoin and ether ETFs recorded combined net outflows above $1.2bn. A week in which price fell, leverage unwound and ETF money left is a week in which on-chain deposits, trading and fee revenue tend to fall together, which is exactly what this table shows.
